Bridging the gap between theory and practice

For years we have heard about what is and what is not a Scrum Master, we have read about the relationship between the role and the servant-leadership concept, but...sincerely, it's not easy to explain in a pragmatic approach what a Scrum Master need to do to succeed. Geoff was brilliant in this book because he wrote that in a way you picture and feel the practice in each page you read. It's like if the book included videos that just emerge in our head when reading. Definitely, a must-read!

Best Scrum Master Resource Available - Hands Down!

This is the best book I have read thus far as a Scrum Master resource. I would recommend it to anyone -- Excellent! I would order 500 copies of this book and hand them out on the street corner if I could --- that's just how good this book is. I want to go on a mission to get this in the hands of every Scrum Master I ever coach!

This book tells Scrum Masters where to start and describes what a good Scrum Master looks like in multiple situations. It also goes on to describe the difference between a good Scrum Master and what separates them from good and great. It teaches them how to take their skills to the next level in order to build higher performing teams and organizations.

I recommend this book for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Development Teams, and even Managers in agile organizations. This is the most powerful resource I have seen hit the market since I have been coaching.

Very useful, only a one small issue...

These cards are an easy way to boost your SAT-specific vocabulary. The flashcard format allows for quick repetition, more than with books in my opinion. I only wish they had pronunciation keys next to the definitions. I recommend these cards along with "Verbal Advantage" and a pocket dictionary for a lasting vocabulary increase. Daily reading, however, is still your best bet for a lifelong and effective vocabulary. These cards are just tools to speed up the process.

Nice Study Tool for easy vocab

This set of cards can be very helpful if you are preparing for the SAT and your vocabulary bank needs more work. However, the effect of these study cards will vary greatly from person to person, as this set contains some words that are used in everyday language and I really would not consider them to be "SAT vocabulary". If you already have a very good knowledge of SAT vocabulary, then you should look elsewhere. If you need work and need to learn SAT vocabulary quick, buying this will give you an easy and effective tool to the understanding of the basic words found in the SAT. By no means will this completely prepare you for EVERY word you will see on the SAT however, and if that was your goal, then you should complement this with more vocab to study.

I'm an SAT tutor, and I recommend this product for most of my students. It's helpful not just for the Sentence Completions, but for the whole Critical Reading section- many of these words show up in the long passages and the corresponding questions.

It's true that students could make their own flashcards, but very few students are diligent enough to do that. This box gives them a huge number of useful words to learn, and having a sturdy box and dividers is invaluable to keep things organized. It's priced very reasonably for the quality you get.

What keeps it from getting 5 stars? No pronunciation key for the words, and the definitions could be simpler.

Beyond the Mundane - Practicing the Life and Power of Blessing

Kerry Kirkwood's book "The Power of Blessing" describes a lifestyle of blessing others. My heart was filled with expectation as I began to read the stories and testimonies of healing from physical afflictions, of restored relationships, and of business breakthroughs.

Kirkwood proposes that there are various aspects of blessing which focus on a lifestyle that goes beyond materialism, changing the heart, to become a prophetic declaration, creative and restorative. Kerry uses Biblical and contemporary stories to illustrate how God brings things back into His divine order. The power of blessing restores hope, gives back dreams, and redirects faith to see unanswerable prayer answered.

The book is made up of four parts designed to help the reader understand the revelation of blessing, the inclusion for blessing, the activation of blessing and the manifestation of blessing. The chapters are filled with practical applications which talk of how when we apply truth we are set free to see things from God's perspective.

I was moved by the affirmations expressed in the prayers included in each chapter. They are excellent models for future personal prayers. Additional suggestions for "Blessing" are included in the appendix. The scriptures included throughout the book have a direct correlation to life principles, providing guidelines for living and for transforming truth into reshaping our lives.

"The Power of Blessing" is a book for every Christian. Kerry Kirkwood brilliantly sheds new light on God's intended favor for his children. He takes the reader beyond the mundane to a life of experiencing the Power of Blessing.

Are you desiring to live a life of knowing you are being blessed? Although there are many, many books on the subject of God's blessing, this book is one that touches deeply the heart of the believer if her or she really want to know the Truths of blessing others and being blessed.
I will for this book give to you the titles of the four parts of this book and they are Revelation of Blessing, Inclusion of Blessing, Activitation of Blessing, and Manifestation of Blessing.
This is a book to read and re-read and to keep on the shelf available as a reference. It is a great teaching book for small groups. A question...How do you feel or think when you are blessed and it affects your life?

We are to be blessed and bless others as well. True blessing spoken over someone or something is describing the way God sees them. When we speak blessings over our children, we are saying what their life should be, not what it is now. If we want a blessing, we have to develop a lifestyle of blessing others.

Terrible Kindle eBook Quality, seems good book

This is about the quality of the Kindle ebook of this book, which should be given 0 star. The 2 star is given because the book seems good (didn't finish a chapter because of terrible book quality).

It is understood that Kindle show equation and table in images, which looks different from the normal kindle font. However, this book's equation is terrible, very very hard to read, even at 200% zoom. All the fancy math symbles have zig-zag. I have to guess what are those symbles most of time. For subscript/superscript, you can't tell whether it is "i", "j", "l", or "k". These are important for equations.

Also tried on desktop, on Android, on iPad, same observations.

Excellent Fundamentals of Investment Measurement and Evaluation

Portfolio Performance Measurement and Benchmarking is a comprehensive book detailing the fundamentals of investment measurement and evaluation. I am a recent business school graduate and I found the book to be well-organized and well-written. The book starts off with the building blocks of risk and return and then moves into benchmarking. What I enjoyed about the book is that it not only introduced a concept at a high level, but it also dove into the technical details of various measurement indicators. The authors of this book share their wealth of knowledge and can explain the technical details in an understandable fashion. They provide thorough explanations of the concepts and explain how to properly apply the different measurement techniques to performance evaluation. An area that I would like for a future revision is to actually expand on the example problems and answers in the first couple of chapters- maybe a section at the end of the chapter to ensure concept competency.

Overall, I believe this book has provided me with a solid foundation to embark on a career in Investment Management and it will be a great resource to review individual topics when I have questions in the future. I highly recommend this book to anybody who is looking for a comprehensive book on investment measurement and evaluation with a technical slant.

solid, yet entertaining, resource for potential interns

I work at a Career Center in the Mid-Atlantic and we have an active internship program that is run through our office. Jamie Fedorko's book would be a great resource for any of our students who were willing to take the time to read it--I managed to breeze through most of it in just under two hours, even though (fossil that I am) I had to ask a younger colleague to "translate" some of the slang used.

I thoroughly enjoyed the irreverent tone & hip writing, though possibly some would be offended by the occasional profanity used. The advice offered was solid and right on target, though it would have been better had more of the examples of "real interns" been drawn from varied fields (many of them, probably Fedorko's college friends, were based in media/music/arts). Perhaps this will be changed with a future edition!

I also enjoyed Fedorko's final "real intern" story--his own--and am quite impressed to see a recent grad ('04) realizing his dream--to be a writer. Good going, Jamie, and keep up the good work!

Great book by a great guy

It is rare you get to meet the man behind the mask. I was so fortunate, however, that I did get to meet Jamie Fedorko. Jamie has done a fantastic job with this book by doing one simple thing, he shares with you the wisdom he gained from being an typical everday Joe Average intern. Jamie genuinely wants students to learn the simple principles in his book so they don't have to hit the pot-holes he got stuck in.

Overall the book covers the basics on how to get, keep and excel in your internships. It is a guidebook and has what you would expect--dress codes, where to look for internships, how to handle office politics, leaving a lasting impression, etc. Because it is well written and has great stories it is able to hold a 20-year-olds attention for over 100 pages--not an easy task by any means. The best points are reflected on what he says about attitude and how to maintain a positive attitude in the midst of sometimes non-exciting internships and the second point is about relationships. If there is one takeaway from this book it would be that you need to build excellent relationships with those in your office (boss included) whether you hate the job, want a full time position or are like most students and have no clue.

From my perspective as an employer, any individual who follows the wise and entertaining guidance in this book will be an irresistable choice for any internship or paid position. I only wish I had this book when I was starting my own career. Brilliant, funny, and vital if you want a career...any career.
