Using a relationship marketing perspective the author goes on to offer a re-conceptualisation of these political spheres in terms of 'markets' which addresses the theoretical inadequacies of prior research. She closes by examining some of the most important practical implications that this alternative approach to party-centred politics may have for the marketing efforts of contemporary membership parties.

About the Author

Eric D. Kolaczyk�is a professor of statistics, and Director of the Program in Statistics, in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Boston University, where he also is an affiliated faculty member in the�Bioinformatics Program,� the Division of Systems�Engineering, and the Program in Computational Neuroscience. His publications on network-based topics, beyond the development of statistical methodology and theory, include�work on applications�ranging from the detection of anomalous traffic patterns in computer networks to the prediction of biological function in networks of interacting proteins�to the characterization of influence of groups of actors in social networks. He is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and an elected senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).�

G�bor Cs�rdi is a research associate at the Department of Statistics at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from E�tv�s University, Hungary. His research includes applications of network analysis in biology and social sciences, bioinformatics and computational biology, and graph algorithms. He created the igraph software package in 2005 and has been one of the lead developers since then.

Good introduction to igraph

This is a great introduction to the 'igraph' package for R. Someone who is just a beginner in using R can probably use this book, but it's probably best to have already been using it for some time. The 'igraph' package is pretty extensive, but this book will give you enough tools to explore what else the package can do.

It also covers the basics of doing network analyses. It doesn't go very deeply into any topics, really (nor does it have proofs or much theory), so it is best used in conjunction with (or perhaps after reading) Kolaczyk's other text (http://amzn.com/038788145X ). I used this after having used the other text.

In written accounts and responses to interview questions, respondents sometimes display nostalgia for the Soviet past, or, conversely, may seek to de-mythologize the realities of Soviet rule. Case studies explore what to do when interview subjects and memoirists consciously, sub-consciously or unconsciously "forget" aspects of their own past, or themselves seek to take control of the research process.

This product was awful, it is missing almost all of the lab question pages and it said it was in almost new condition which it is not. I would not recommend this seller to anyone, they stretch the truth.

this is a great refernce book for anyone, the only drawback is their are numerous errors in the answers in the back of book and practical applications, these mistakes carry thru the various editions, so buying the latest wont escape that. the key, trust OHMs law and your calculator, not the answers in the back of the book.. this book would be 5 star if the errors were corrected

Wish I had this when I was in school!

If you can only buy one book to help your high school or college student succeed, this is it. The author breaks everything down into digestible pieces of information and offers advice that is relevant and up to date. The writing style is conversational - not textbook-ish. Therefore, not only parents will love this book, but teens too.
I gave my 16 year old niece this book and she loves it - she sat on my bed reading it for almost an hour, sharing tips with me ("It says not to go to class hungry. Uh oh, I always do that") I think coming from her mom, she would have blown off the same advice. This example could be repeated in every chapter. The advice on being prepared, note taking, extra credit, tips for studying, and time management is invaluable. If the suggestions in the book are put into practice, it can literally the tipping point going from B's and C's to straight A's. And... kids will enjoy the process more.

Everything Guide: Highly Recommended

A terrific guide, essentially a semester long study skills course presented in one coherent package. I especially like the author's introductory note that "success is being the best student you in particular can be," even or especially if that means a B. I see students at all levels benefiting from the book. The author, clearly passionate about her subject matter, provides strategic advice about how to create productive relationships with teachers, manage time, read a text and take notes, test preparation and test taking skills, writing essays from start to finish (including research), and advice about clubs and volunteering and on-line learning. I found this to be a smart, all in one book that will improve students' abilities and performance. Having taught and advised for a lot of years, I highly recommend.

The detailed chapters on taking standardized tests and writing essays are especially relevant, and there’s even a section on the most common grammar and usage errors! From time management, to selecting the right classes, to strategically choosing a seat in the classroom, to note taking, this book is full of practical, common sense advice for the motivated (and not-so-motivated-but-needs-a-poke) learner!
