There seem to be a lot of unverified reviews for this book, and that makes me wonder.

I found this book to be extremely lacking. It is extremely thin. Explanations for the answers are more than lacking. It feels as if it was written by a college kid that was in a rush.

I would not recommend this as your only source of study material for the 5161.

Great book that helps you achieve just what it claims – to prepare for successful Praxis 2 Math Exam. The book is of manageable size and covers everything you need to pass. The explanations are clear and suffice. What not to love! Besides, you will find efficient test-taking strategies that I personally found to be just as important as knowing the content of the test. What I especially like about this book is that it is filled with practice questions that are so helpful in self-determining whether you are ready for a test. Unlike other books, this one also contains detailed answer explanations, so you not only know if you got something wrong, but also understand where exactly you made a mistake, so you don’t repeat it in the future. Very pleased with the product. Highly recommend.

It's every re-run of Ancient Aliens you've ever seen...in word form!

It pains me to write a negative review of books in this genre because of the dearth of scholarly acceptance of extra-terrestrial intervention in early civilizations. But, this book earns its' negative review due it's lack of ever truly being bold enough to just come out and state conclusively "yes! aliens have been entirely responsible for creating the human species and here is the conclusive and irrefutable evidence." The entire theme of Land of The Watchers is Heather Lynn being contacted by people who are always spoonfeeding her with groundbreaking evidence of conspiracy and doing a "man, I've been places and seen things - if you only knew...but, wait, that's all I can tell you!"

It really is just the same old same old being trotted out by a different author; Anunnaki this, Enki, Enlil, Anu, that. And the "de rigueur" grand conspiracy that the royal families of Earth are descendants of the original extra-terrestrials sent here to oversee the Adamu used to mine gold or rare petroleum sources that imparted physical immortality if consumed. Not, that I don't believe that there are indeed conspiracies out there beyond our wildest imagination. But, unless you dig and search to the ends of the Earth and beyond, the information won't come easy.

Personally, I believe that there has been either extra-terrestrial or inter-dimensional advanced being contact throughout the entirety of human existence, much of which has been carved into stone or passed down through verbal record. Stone like diorite which would require either diamond or some sort of laser to cut so precisely and with the absence of tool marks and the similarity of accounts by civilizations that couldn't have had any chronological or geographical contact. But this book never gets into this particular debate in text or photographs, it inconclusively intimates that there are powerful and unseen entities in the "out there, biding their time to strike."

If you knew absolutely nothing whatsoever about ancient astronaut theory and conspiracy theory - and have an open mind, and this is the first book you've ever read on the subjects it might pique your interest. However, if you are familiar with the names and the theories of Zecharia Sitchin or someone like R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz you are definitely going to want more information. Those guys wrote COPIOUS amounts of information down in their book series, and have firsthand photographs and diagrams detailing why they believe what they do.

After this I'm planning to learn ancient Vinca script, and Sumerian, and Akkadian, and Ancient Runic and just do my own damned research and form my opinions. The telephone game of Cuneiform tablet translation is really getting old.

GREAT READ!

If you have read The Sumerian Controversy Report, then you are somewhat familiar with the information in this book. Dr. Lynn gives an overview of what is known about the dig near Ur, it's artifacts, and where they are going. She also examines why they are disappearing! She seeks the answers to the question, " who's behind all of this"?
What you won't expect, is the parallel story here of her personal sacrifice to obtain this information. I mean, if you were a investigative archaeologist / historian, how much personal risk would you be willing to take?
I care not about double spacing or quality of paper it's printed on, but I do care about truth in archaeology as well as the other sciences. We should all collectively thank Dr.Lynn for her courage and personal sacrifices in obtaining this truth.
I highly recommend this book. And to Heather Lynn I say, " GREAT JOB, GREAT BOOK, and THANK YOU!!

I was thoroughly disappointed with this book. I had read her other ones and thought this would have some interesting follow up on Ur excavations. Didn't happen. This was 225 pages of Doubled Spacing the whole way! Felt like I was reading a "child's book". Not much worth reading about.

Made up of convicted criminals from Folsom & San Quentin prisons, these dossiers, each with vivid mugshot photographs, provide rare glimpses into not only how different life was a century ago, but also how our prison system operated both in terms of parole, pardons, and rehabilitation. You will see a vastly different world than you do today.

Each case file includes a highly detailed description of the crime committed (from original trial transcripts and/or statements of the convict), their length of sentence, prison record, parole record if applicable, and other salient details. It was each of these criminal's desires to have their sentences reduced, or, if they were out on parole, to be pardoned so that they could enjoy the benefits of life as free citizens. To that end, affidavits of character witnesses, statements of presiding judges, district attorneys, police officers, prison wardens, or anyone else who could put a word in for them were used. The decision then rested with the Pardon Board, and in some cases, the Governor Of California himself.

These were tough characters- murderers, rapists, thieves. Some fairly dripped with evil, but others acted out of anger or spur of the moment passion, and were not inherently reckless. They acted alone, and also with gangs of cohorts. They murdered their mothers, their wives, their girlfriends, their associates, their antagonists. They were pedophiles. They abused alcohol. They abused themselves.They escaped with their accomplices in jalopies down the streets of 1918 Los Angeles, and escaped on horseback in remote California counties. But they also showed remorse, some of them, and did well after parole. Some of them were even granted a pardon for it.

Some of these pardons were deserved, but some of them were not. Justice is an imperfect thing to be sure, but it was far less perfect a century ago, before forensics, DNA, and other methods we take for granted today. This is perhaps the most interesting thing about these case files- you will see how little we really understood about the criminal mind back then, especially with regards the mentally ill, sex criminals or other serial offenders.

Each volume in the California Scheming series details 15 criminals, and their dossiers can range from 2 pages to 20 pages each, totaling about 75 pages each volume. This volume features a pair of child rapists, a prostitute murderer of San Francisco's Tenderloin, a Sacramento murderess, a wife murderer, and a floridly psychotic man who murdered his mother, mistaking her for a man from Mars. Another failure to deliver

Many authors of erotica deals with the theme of a girls school with mainly lesbian sex and "classical" spanking dicipline. This should at least set higher standards for any new attempt to use this setting. However, also in this novel, we see a lot of spanking, followed sometimes by briefly descibed sex- secenes (a few good exceptions, though), but no deeper feeling of attraction and compassion between the dominant and submissive participants. These feelings ARE described, but one feels that they are used more or less as an excuse to go on with the punishment.

It Takes Discipline to Finish it

A disjoint work of mainly lesbian domination. Although relatively well written in terms of grammar and use of the language, there just isn't a coherent thread through the work. Much less interesting to read than the two previous works by the same writer. It gets three stars only because the writing and language usage are above average. The story development is lacking, one would have wished for more involvement by the character Barat, but this was not to be. The ending was essentially telegraphed at the beginning, thus "relieving" the reader of suspense (and a lot of interest as well).

Joyous BDSM fantasia

While I don't have my old copy in front of me to quote from chapter and verse, I can certainly say that "Discipline of the Private House" is one of the best volumes of erotica I have ever read. Esme Ombreux writes fluently and with a definite sense of fun about the wild shenanigans of a covert society of BDSM afficianadoes who routinely draw new, naive budding sensualists into their world of polyvalent thrills. Unlike some Nexus titles, there's nothing really "mean spirited" about all these goings on, but there is plenty of explicit and imaginative sexuality. Of course it's no surprise that spirited Jem prevails over her challenges in sex slavery by the end, but what's so delightful is to follow her journey and that of her new friend, a trembling Middle Eastern ingenue who discovers several thrilling new penchants. Loads of spanking, bondage, costumes, toys, piercings, and role-play abound, along with saucy dominatrixes and sobbing, delighted subs. I'm sorry the other readers didn't enjoy this so much, but I've found the three volumes of the Private House series that I've read all delightful, and none more so than this. Like the best Black Lace titles, it's a spirited romp with a kinky spin on female power. I think this is one of the best volumes of its kind.

Good companion to have if you are building on spring framework.

If you are looking for a book to understand and code in spring framework this is the book for you. It provides in-depth understanding of spring framework with ample examples to build good understanding of the framework. It uses UML and sequence diagrams to set the context for various examples. All the examples are for spring version 4.3. It covers both basics of spring like bean configurations, dependency injection and advanced topics like data binding, RESTful web services, spring security ( good read to setup spring security correctly) and introduces new concepts like java based configuration, spring data jpa. Author maintains a good pace and keep a practical approach towards development and learning of spring framework. It also provides information to setup your development environment and deployment setup - really helpful when you are setting up a project from scratch.

This book does not leave any stone unturned. I've watched videos and read other books trying to get a good grasp of the subject and this book makes sure you do not miss ANY detail. I started to read this book before bed, big mistake! It put me to sleep - not because of the writing style but because there is so much detail covered in every sentence. Make sure you have time to pay attention.
Other reviews mention they don't like the small code snippets. But the code snippets that are shown have plenty of context AND are contained in full working projects which are downloaded from the authors site. The book even tells you when to load it up if you want to see it in action.
Great book if you don't want to miss a thing.

I have few years of experience in Java but fairly new to Spring. I found the book to be very useful. It is a code heavy book that explains concepts using sample projects. I liked the way authors explain complex Spring concepts by starting with requirements of a banking application.

Great reading

I have read everything I can find by Tolkein. I have read all I can of Tad Williams. I have read hundreds of books in this genre and I can say this series is excellent. This genre is popular because it requires an imagination, and it is there for the readers to have a good time, not to make literary students of all of us. I don't give a damn for character development and plot - I want something that is going to take me away and let my imagination go on a ride. Eddings did brilliantly with this. The last few books were so fast paced, I couldn't put them down. I can't wait to begin reading the Mallorean. If a person wants to do some seriouse literary reviewing then try a different Genre.

A Long Tale Comes To An End (almost)

Enchanters' End Game chronicles the climax to Garion's long quest to bring two conflicting prophecies back into synch. As Child of Light, he and his friends have wandered across the Alorn kingdoms, ventured into Tolnedra and Nyissa, and now Garion, Belgarath, and Silk are in the Angarak side of the continent heading for the final confrontation with Torak.

Pacing Garion is C'Nedra, who has rallied the armies of the West to provide what amounts to a distraction so that Garion, thousands of miles away can slip into Cthol Mishrak without the entire Murgo population trying to put an end to them. For all the sarcasm and wit that the characters display, this is a grim struggle, and C'Nedra's forces will be caught between the massive armies of the Mallorean Emperor Zakath and Taur Urgas the insane king of the Murgos. Levity or not many will die in the confrontation.

Of the two story arcs, C'nedra's is the more interestingly told. Garion's adventures are mostly hiding and running at a very forced pace. His challenge is to keep his fear in check as he prepared for a duel that will kill one of the participants. On the other hand, the Alorn kings and many friends surround C'nedra. The preparations for the final battle are extensive, and many of the characters show unexpected sides.

In retrospect, once this series slows down in Castle of Wizardry, it never quite regains its pace. Eddings hadn't quite learned to control his efforts in this series, and his early rush left him lacking a bit of plot in the fourth volume of this series. Enchanters' End Game recovers (nothing like a massive battle to perk things up) but Edding's will always be noted more for characterization and detail than for action. But his next series, the Malloreon is more evenly written, so the pacing is much smoother.

I tend to view these stories as comfort food for fantasy addicts. While they lack something in the way of fast paced action and emotional range, they are genuinely entertaining. I've reread them all several times and they always seem to bear up. I wish everything I read was at least this well done.

END OF ONE SERIES AND ACTUAL START OF ANOTHER

Enjoyed this one as much as the others in the series. This ends the Belgariad series and sets up for the Malloreon. All in all these are good reads. Most of the folks I know have read this series and The Malloreon several times...they are sort of habit forming. If read for what they were written for, light books which should be enjoyed and ones to have fun with, then you will like them. If on the other hand if you just graduated from Jr. High and are much, much too mature for them, then you should probably wait until you reach your dotage so that you can appreciate them again. Yes, they are flawed and yes there are endless contradictions (some 233 by my last count), but that is part of the charm of this work. Hey, go out to a oak tree in the woods or in your park, kick back, read and enjoy. Recommend highly.
