SEAN MICHAEL WILSON is�a Harvey- and Eisner-award-nominated comic book writer who has authored more�than a dozen graphic novels and manga comics, including adaptations of�The Book of Five Rings�and�The 47 Ronin.�He is also the editor of the critically acclaimed anthology�AX: A Collection of Alternative Manga�(one of�Publishers Weekly's "Best Ten Books of 2010"). Originally from Scotland, he now lives in Japan.

AKIKO SHIMOJIMA is a comic and manga artist from Tokyo, Japan. A teacher of digital comics art at a school in Tokyo, she is the illustrator of�The 47 Ronin�and has contributed work to many other publications.�

ANTONY CUMMINS is the author of The Secret Traditions of the Shinobi and�True Path of the Ninja, among other books. Book is amazing: Kindle version is trash.

The book itself is great, an excellent resource, and I would gladly rate it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I got the kindle edition, which is almost useless as a test book. The vast majority of figures, especially after chapter 5, are thumbnails only, and many of the figures that are "full sized" are scanned in at such poor resolution that zooming in is not possible, making completion of assignments near impossible.
If you want the e-book version, I highly recommend getting it from Google.

About the Author

Sheldon Ekland-Olson joined The University of Texas at Austin after completing his graduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle and Yale Law School. He is currently the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Centennial Professor of Liberal Arts. For five years he served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and then for eight years as Executive Vice President and Provost of the university. He has authored or co-authored several books and numerous articles on criminal justice, prison reform, and capital punishment. Widely recognized for his commitment to teaching undergraduates, he is the recipient of numerous teaching awards. His current interests are reflected in the book manuscript, Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Decides?

Elyshia Aseltine is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She joined the Lycoming faculty after completing her graduate work in sociology at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on punishment and inequality in the United States and Africa.

This is an outstanding book for anyone who is considering developing an online or hybrid course. All concepts are presented in a straightforward, practical manner with plenty of examples. There is no extraneous material and the rationale behind all recommendations are clearly defined.

Guidelines for producing audio and video media are also included. Although the word "karma” is Sanskrit and is associated with Eastern religions, it simply refers to the law of cause and effect. Karma is not blind destiny or divine judgment, but is the principle the describes the natural reverberation that emerges from every action, whether that action is physical, emotion, mental, or spiritual. Suffering and pain are not punishment from a tyrant God, nor are they "normal” or mere "coincidence.” When we truly understand the law of action and consequence, we can see that our lives are a result of our own moment to moment ignorance of the effects of our actions. We create our own suffering, therefore, we can create our own happiness instead, if we know how. No matter what religion or background we come from, through conscious action from moment to moment, we can originate a new set of causes, which in turn will generate a new set of results. This is how we can revolutionize our life. The power to change is in our hands.

About the Author
Nikias Annas, whose Greek name means "victory to divine compassion," studied all major religions before discovering the Gnostic tradition of Samael Aun Weor, which radically transformed his life and gave him the keys to experiencing the reality of those religions for himself. Very helpful book - good for beginners

This book does a very good job of synthesizing a lot of teachings about karma in a way that is easy for a beginner to understand and relate to. It's very easy to read (written in simple language), and the examples it gives are geared towards helping an ordinary person to see firsthand how karma is acting in his or her life, and how to use that understanding to stop suffering.

It utilizes scriptures and teachings from many different spiritual traditions (not just the Eastern ones), as well as plain old-fashioned common sense to help make its points, so I feel this book would be easily accessible to people from any spiritual background.

Although the book is geared towards those who have no prior knowledge of the teachings on karma, I think even those who have some learning in this area would benefit from reading this book, since it provides helpful examples and thought experiments that could be useful in their own expositions on this subject.

One more important note: This book is very practical. Although it does a good job at explaining the theory of Karma, the focus of the book is on helping the reader to change his or her life for the better. So a scholar looking for some grand intellectual commentary may walk away from this book disappointed, but a regular person should find it to be very beneficial.

Simple, Striaghtforward, and Beautiful!

I loved this book! After I read it I bought 15 more just to give out to my friends, family and clients. I feel this book is useful for everybody and anybody beyond all so called "barriers", because it speaks of one universal truth that has undeniably been experienced by all. This book was so easy to read compared to most esoteric books because it was nicely simplified and very straightforward. Finally, someone makes it easier to understand one of the most complex and difficult concepts to grasp , karma. The examples given from Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Egyptian, Greek, and Muslim traditions all collaborated well to make clear the same points. Humanity needs this book now! We live in these degenerated times because of our own actions, but we are so asleep that none of us realize the harm that is caused by us. By the loving grace of God, this book gave me the tools to put into effect, the negotiation my karma. Thank you Nikias Annas for this great gift.

This is a must buy!

I couldn't find anything to complain about with this book. It's very relevant. Especially for today. The topic of conserving your sexual energy (ie not having an orgasm) and focusing it in more productive areas is very interesting. In fact, everything in this book is. I highly recommend it.
